Thanks for stumbling upon my webpage from the depths of the Internet =) The site is used as my personal portfolio site and as the base for my blog below.

More changes

So, I found this cool thingy, magpierss, its an unversal atom/rss parser, which is cool. I have now removed the crappy iframe that was on the front page and replaced it with direct parsing of the atom file from Blogspot. Also, I managed to get deviantART RSS feed working for the work page, so that the deviations I've uploaded will directly be visible on my work page. I'm happy with this stuff, for now :)

Watcha doin' there mate?

Recently I've been converting the Passat Pikes Peak model into a lowpoly model. The model stood around 15 million polygons when I made it last summer, currently it is down to 65k polies, and going lower.. except when I re-create the interior & engine and so on. Target is under 100 000 polies anywho, I reckon I can manage it. Anyway, here's a couple shots of the model in it's current state

Changes =)

I made some rather drastic changes in the Blogger layout, stripped everything off. Now, if you read this in blogger, its gonna look pretty awful, plain white background and orange font, not too nice, so why dont you head over to http://astros.e0nes.com and see how it looks there.

Class on 8.2.2010

FFFUUU... presentation today. Not quite as prepared as I'd like to be. Too lazy, as always.
But not yet, Mika's got something to lecture about first. Networking. A common thing today. Networking is a big thing, and always been. Previously we've just handed out our business cards to other people and meeting them, but today we use social medias to network. Then Mika showed us a cool (CoolIris) plugin for Firefox, video/picture wall.. quite the interesting street photos on flickr.

Internet mass storage
Cloud saving
Back-up for images, for instance, not too pricy either, to use. But will they be around in 5, or even 10 year's time? Can't know that for sure..

Yay, Mika pretty much explained 90% of what I was going to tell about Instant messaging. :<

So what's the point of the presentation anyway? Well, Just picked up my laptop, and I'll present something more than I could've on the school computer. Should be alright, since the point is to actually demonstrate the programs.

And of course the VGA output on my (now completely broken) laptop was broken and there was no DVI on the projector etc., so I grabbed the laptop and placed it on the document camera.. it worked, sort of. Great ideas come in the moment, riiiiite..? Anywho, the presentation went quite well and since we were supposed to demonstrate the products more than tell about the subject, it wasn't all that bad.

Class on 25.1.2010

Feeling high on caffeine the class started.. what a great afternoon. The teacher told us that the lecture assignments are to be submitted according to a schedule, yay! The first one should be submitted by next week's class.

Next up, was some presentations, there were some cool subjects, should do a 15 minute presentation by myself. The presentation of it is on 8th February and my presentation is about Instant messaging, woo! Should be a decent subject, I know I've got loads of experience.. since I use it every day.

The teacher told us about LinkedIN, I've been there for some years (?), but can't remember when was the last time I logged in. LinkedIN is like Facebook, but its for professional and work usage, not for posting what you had for breakfast.

Anyway, continuing... becoming an inhabitant from a mere tourist.. Anyone in the world can become an inhabitant of the internet, I guess. You just need to participate in the what ever community you find yourself in on the internet.

Mika then showed us a website where people cane design their own camera bags and show off them in the public. It was just one example of how the companies nowadays want to give the customers a freedom to customize their products and give them ideas and what not towards better products.

Apparently openness and publicity are a big thing nowadays. With Facebook and what not we have lots of social medias that reveal our life to the public. The Big Brother nowadays is the person next to you, not some government agency.

We then proceeded to doing our group assignments, this was convenient for us since we were all here in the class, except Timo(!).

First Proper Class @ 18.1.2010

Today was the first proper class of the course. After a morning of working on another course's projects, I had about two hours till this class, so I went home and googled around, because I wanted to setup some galleries for my work. Got it under construction, when I found bolGallery (which is easy and awesome by the way), just need to unify it with my website's layout and create the galleries for each folder.

Anyway, about the class, for the first half of the class or so our teacher, Mika, talked about the clearly visible two groups using the internet. The so called Digital Natives and Digital Immigrants. Us, who have used the internet pretty much ever since we went to school, are the natives, we're used to all sorts of new fancy things that are related to the internet or PCs, and what not. The computer is basicly an extension of us. Where as the immigrants are the older generations, that really haven't gone so far, necessarely, into the world of computing. Mika also told us about the evolution of the internet from a rather small library into an insane one, with bringing along the shopping mall and the lot (commercialism, basicly).

In the latter part of the class we were told to form groups, and so we did. Our group consists of Toni, Timo, Jarno, Joona and me. Rather a solid group of people that I've worked with in the past (and currently) quite a bit. After a while we came up with the name 4 Aces and A Joker, don't ask where it originates from. Going to start with the course's group projects on Friday, I reckon.

That's about enough for this week's ICT-marketing and collaborative media.

Testing

This blog's been created for my ICT-marketing and collaborative media -course at JAMK University of Applied Sciences, but I shall also use it for other random purposes, possibly.
